No Looking Back For Dulcie and Jack

It was a Sussex School Games Cross Country Final like no other- it was dry, warm and a fairly sunny day. And the change in conditions gave the runners no excuses as they tackled the 2km Waterhall course.

It seemed to only take a matter of minutes for the boys to complete their race- with Jack (Southern Area), Charlie and Jacob (both Mid Sussex) taking the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. The team medals went to Mid Sussex (gold), Southern Area (silver) and Brighton & Hove (bronze).

The girls’ race followed and was equally as quick, with the same areas making the podium in the team event. This time, Brighton & Hove were awarded the gold medals, with Mid Sussex in second and Southern Area in third. Brighton & Hove’s Dulcie took a second gold medal home as the indiviudal race winner, and Alice and Stephanie from Crawley were placed second and third.

Congratulations to all of the runners who performed exceptionally. Both races were very competitive with very little between the front and back runners, and on another day the results could have looked very different.

Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped run the event, with a special mention to Pheonix Athletics Club, Brighton Rugby Club, Chris Jones, Judy Lasis and the wonderful young leaders from Hove Park.
