Runners Travel Across County for Cross Country

All 9 Sainsbury’s School Games regions came together at Windlesham House on Saturday morning (7th March) to compete in the Primary Cross Country Final. In stark contrast to last year, it was a beautiful sunny day and the course was in great condition.

In all, 115 girls started the first race and 111 boys took to the line in the boy’s event. Most of the children had competed in 2 qualifying races in order to reach the county final, and therefore were the best of several thousand runners across Sussex that had participated in the early stages in their regions.

As with all School Games events an Olympic style presentation was held at the finish which hundreds of proud parents and supporters attended to celebrate the childrens’ successes.

The results were as follow:

Girls Race: 1st Bethany Cook (South Downs), 2nd Rebecca Lost (Southern), 3rd Tilly Norman (Southern)

Boys Race: 1st Haiden May (Mid Sussex), 2nd Sam Duncan (Brighton & Hove), Olliver Dallas (Mid Sussex)

Girls Team: 1st Brighton & Hove, 2nd South Downs, 3rd Southern

Boys Team 1st Mid Sussex, 2nd Brighton & Hove, 3rd Southern

Congratulations to all of the participants whose effort and determination was fantastic. Thank you to everybody who made the event a huge success, particularly Windlesham House School for setting out the course and providing a superb venue.
