Schools from the West Sussex West region battled it out in a rainy December qualifier for the School Games, to represent their region in quicksticks hockey Year 5/6.
Twelve teams from five schools took part in the qualifer, hosted by the Regis School on 6 December. The competition was supported by Middleton and Bognor Hockey Club coach Rachael McCartain, who praised the work of the sixth formers who umpired the matches.
“They were excellent umpires and did a really good job,” she said.
The final, a hard-fought contest between Jessie Younghusband School and Edward Bryant School, was eventually won by the team from Jessie Younghusband. Both finalists will represent West Sussex West region at the Winter School Games on 6 March.
